BLACKPINK has made history once again!
BLACKPINK’s music video for their 2018 hit “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has officially surpassed 1.8 billion views on YouTube, making it the first music video by a K-pop group to do so.
Just recently, YG Entertainment shared the news with their fans by posting a celebratory photo on their social media pages. In the post, the agency announced that their popular female foursome hit a new YouTube record. The music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” reached the 1.8 billion mark on February 1 at 5:02 p.m. It’s been about 3 years and 7 months since its release on June 15, 2018.
“DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the title track of BLACKPINK’s debut mini album SETTLE ACCOUNTS. The addictive chorus and spot-on choreography that seemed to shoot with a two-handed gun became popular and topped the “world’s most-watched K-Pop music video” in 2018.
The song has also achieved notable results on various major worldwide charts. It ranked 40th and 55th respectively on the US Billboard 200 and HOT 100. The girls also topped the national music charts with a “Perfect All-Kill”, setting a new best record for female idol groups. Moreover, on Spotify, the largest music platform in the world, the number of streams is about to exceed 500 million.
