Dancing with the Stars YouTube Videos: Who Was Most Viewed in Week 1?

Half of the results of “Dancing with the Stars” are decided by fans voting at home, so it’s important to know how much excitement you can generate from viewers. Each competitor’s YouTube numbers could therefore give us some insight into their popularity with fans. Of course, we can’t say for sure that the most-watched dances from the season premiere line up with the most-voted celebrities, especially since voting for the first week ended Tuesday morning, but those numbers may point to a few competing dark horses that we may be underestimating. Scroll down to see stats and watch dances.

Each time you read this, the numbers will probably have changed; these statistics date from the afternoon of Friday 24 September. But unsurprisingly, the most-watched video by a wide margin is JoJo Siwa‘s quickstep with her pro partner Jenna Johnson (1.7 million views). Interest in her routine was high as she is the first “DWTS” contestant to perform with a same-sex partner. She also got the highest score of the judges’ night. and it doesn’t hurt that Siwa herself is already a popular YouTube personality, so her fanbase may be overrepresented on the platform. Fewest YouTube views went to the lowest scorer of the night, the ‘Cobra Kai’ actor Martin Kove (122,000 views), these results are therefore consistent with the opinions of the judges.

But between Siwa and Kove, there are a few surprises. For example, basketball player Imane Shumpert had the most uneven scores of the night – including a four of Len Goodman and a seven of Carrie Ann Inaba – leaving him penultimate in the standings. But it’s the third most-watched dance of the week (408,000 views), and frankly, I’m glad because I thought his routine was woefully underrated considering how the great baller handled the complexity and the speed of the jive, especially on his first night. Other celebrities whose opinions topped their judges’ scores include the actor Brian Austin Green (tied for ninth in the rankings, fourth most-watched), matt james (ninth in the ranking, fifth most viewed), and Olivia Jade (eighth in the ranking, sixth most viewed). Do you think that means fans are seriously voting for them?
