MrBeast is set to overtake PewDiePie in terms of YouTube subscribers

PewDiePie is still the king of YouTube. With a subscriber count of over 111 million, PewDiePie offers the most subscription content of any individual content creator on YouTube. However, MrBeast is aiming for this spot and it looks like it won’t be long before Jimmy Donaldson overtakes Felix Kjellberg.

MrBeast recently made headlines for recreating Netflix’s hit show Squid Game in real life.

MrBeast could set a new YouTube subscriber record

PewDiePie is one of the most influential content creators on all platforms. The Swedish YouTuber has made a name for himself with his Let’s Play videos and other comedy shows. In 2016, Time magazine named Kjellberg one of the most influential people in the world. But, while PewDiePie has left an indelible mark as a content creator, it seems someone else is aiming for his record as the most subscribed content creator on YouTube.

MrBeast is a philanthropist, restaurateur and chocolatier with a penchant for big-budget videos with around 90 million subscribers on YouTube. At its current estimated growth rate of 2.3 million monthly subscribers — MrBeast gained a total of 37 million new subscribers in 2021 — MrBeast could realistically outnumber PewDiePie in two years. Of course, that’s assuming PewDiePie isn’t engaging in a “subscriber war” with MrBeast.

PewDiePie is pretty much semi-retired at this point, so it was only a matter of time before someone else came along and took the throne of one of YouTube’s original content creators.

For what it’s worth, PewDiePie doesn’t seem to care about the competition. After joking that MrBeast was his next opponent, PewDiePie assured fans there was no beef between them. Not to mention, PewDiePie doesn’t seem too keen on working hard on his YouTube channel these days. Last we heard of him, he was revisiting Minecraft after taking a long hiatus in December only to take a month-long hiatus last month.
