Tanzanian singer Zuhura Othman Soud, better known by her stage name Zuchu, has received her YouTube Gold Creator Award after amassing 1,000,000 subscribers.
Hitmaker Sukari has already amassed an additional 240,000 subscribers since hitting one million in March this year, a record that saw her become the first female artist in Africa to achieve such a milestone in 11 months.
She shared the news on her social media, appreciated the support from her fans.
“I can’t thank you enough. Thank you so much for your endless support. Waiting for our gold plaque.”
In March 2021, she became the first female artist from East Africa to reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube.
Zuchu beat fellow musician Nandy, who was the leading female artist with the most subscribers in East Africa.

Zuchu also became the first female artist from sub-Saharan Africa to rack up 1 million views on YouTube in 22 hours thanks to her song, Sukari.
The song has since received over 39 million views just 4 months after its release.
