YouTube services around the world are having issues, company confirms – TechCrunch

youtube today confirmed the site is experiencing various issues that affect users around the world. The company acknowledged the service issues after many users reported error messages when trying to watch videos or noted that various site elements were unavailable, such as sidebar navigation or configuration menus, for example, among other things.

Some users have also found that they cannot log in to their YouTube account or switch between profiles. Others said they were unable to stream YouTube to their TV or use the app on their game console.

When trying to play videos, some were seeing an error saying “No internet connection” even though they had no connectivity issues.

In a tweet, YouTube said it was aware of the issues and was working on a fix. The company also noted that the issues were not limited to one geographic region, but were global in nature and occurring “on all devices.”

The YouTube webpage linked from his tweet includes a list of the most critical issues affecting users, but it is not a complete list.

On Twitter, the company also recognized issues may cause users to experience problems navigating YouTube Studio or broadcast from its live television service, YouTube TV. Users trying to cast YouTube TV via Chromecast and Google TV reported being disconnected and unable to reconnect, for example.

YouTube’s Twitter account also responded to users who reported that their subscriptions and videos had disappeared.

So far, YouTube isn’t entirely down, and users aren’t experiencing the same set of issues. But if you’re having trouble with YouTube or its apps today, that’s probably the reason.

YouTube has yet to explain the cause of the problem with its services, but these types of semi-outages are often related to the underlying technology, such as cloud services.

The company said that more updates, as they become available, will be posted on its support site here: https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/159624032. The post was posted 2 hours ago, but the issues were reported by users long before that.

YouTube did not provide an ETA for a patch.

Update: Issues resolved, YouTube said at 7:55 p.m. ET.
